I have seen some of them stand in front of a crowd and never read a verse. They could recite the passage word for word. Doesn't seem like the younger ones as a whole have that ability. With a few exceptions here and there,of course.

We used to be amazed at Kenneth Boehning before his Alzheimer’s started. He’d stand up and kind of look over the crowd a tiny bit, then like at his fingernails, then just start in quoting and joining scripture after scripture. He certainly had a flair for it.
Willie Brown was good at that also. As was Harry Brownlee!
But I believe Evan Jones from New Zealand topped everyone that I’d ever heard. He could take you from the front of the Bible to the back and back again!

Leo Stancliff was another worker that could easily quote scriptures and know where they were in the Bible. I saw Leo was gifted in remember vereses so I tried to memorized my favorites verses in the New Testament since 1980s. One of my companions called me the walking encyclopedia. Now, I just Google the word or phrase in the Bible then it appears before my eyes. Thanks, God for the Internet.

Was there such a book as Credence Concordance? It was a dictionary of sorts of bible verses, their meanings and connections to other verses. I remember dad had one that he studied quite a bit. Back then I think the workers studied it quite a bit too, which would help with the connecting of verses and memorizing it perhaps?

Now, I just use Google much easier and offer many different viewers for me to draw my own conclusion on certain subjects.

But it made an impressive response.

When I met him in 1978-9 he was still in top form/mind, in his 60s. Leo quoted many verses over and over now, they are stuck in my head, and I still remember to this day.

Don't you think that he probably just had Cruden's Concordance? don't know but i believe he prefaced his statements with "i counted"... I believe Leo used Young's Analytical Concordance (I may be in error, as to which concordance - Cruden's, Young's or Strong's), and he could easily count the number of times it occurred in a concordance. However, I don't think he was being deceptive in this. He and others openly endorsed using a concordance, and I don't think he was trying to imply that he actually counted the occurrences as he read the Bible. Young's and Strong's are both more comprehensive than Cruden's, I believe mostly in their listing of Hebrew and Greek roots. In many ways, of course, the internet and electronic sources have outdated them. I use e-sword at times, though I don't do much research into original language roots, or into the number of occurrences - I mostly look for specific verses on occasion.

We all had a Cruden's. First book you grabbed when panic set in on a Sunday morning. Quick find a topic, I've only got 5 minutes. Yep, I'll use that one, hope nobody else does.
My bible had a concordance at the back. Handy if all else failed, and you had to cheat during the meeting. Much easier now just Google a testimony, print, put in Bible, at appropriate time read. Don't think I will be going back to try it.

Visiting with an Imam said many young people in his mosque could recite whole Koran and he himself knew it inside out and what page a verse was on etc . Figured Christians took their religion waaaaaay too lightly Without hardly knowing their scripture at all . Alvin

The workers have gone from the early days of a focus of spreading the word of God to today focusing on spreading the word of what happens in each home they visit and the issues with the families that live in them. In the early days the workers preached almost every day and night. Now they preach maybe twice a week. They've become lazy in the gospel, spending more time "visiting", working on improving convention grounds, and focusing on their personal fitness and special diets.

Thinking 2x2's should create a website " Testimonies On The Run". Workers could write thousands in all their spare time. Also put it on youtube, get paid for every hit. Could be a good fundraiser, buy more air tickets for Workers. Darn, no flights at the moment. Oh well have faith, they will fly again someday.
Just an idea, I am here to help.
