And expensive makes no sense. Two reasons. 1. Australians are used to cheap government subsidised medications. Cannabis products won't be subsidised until the research has taken place in Australia to determine what conditions these products actually help and what the dosage should be. That could be years down the track. 2. There's supply shortage as we live far away from just about everywhere else and until 3 years ago it was illegal to farm cannabis for medicinal use. The supply problem is very short-term. (If I had more money I would have been buying shares in some of these companies.) I'm not familiar with the patch but CBD oil is not illegal here but obtaining it through the blackmarket is. In the USA it is still illegal to do research on the effects and benefits of marijuana, despite how the medical profession has espoused it's medical benefits. How much more we could know about how to benefit from it if only it were legal to do the research.

Both benefits and also understand any risks and side-effects. I am of the opinions it's better to know the risks, even if you are going to use it anyway!

Since cannabis has become legal in Canada there are more things like this coming out because now companies can legally do research. It's needed that's for sure. I saw the other day that one of our huge drug store chains will be selling it now. Shopper's Drug Mart. So now that they can legally do the research we will find out more uses and which strains do what for what issues.

It's just recently last decade or so that hemp has been allowed again. It's just powerful drug companies I believe. I am so glad we are now allowed to do the research that's needed. Because there are side effects and risks I am sure and it would be good to know them, understand them. There are risks with all medications, contraindications etc. but we still use them. We just learn what they are so we know what to look for when starting a new prescription.

I actually take an unrelated drug that's not approved in the U.S. Knowing risks changes the way I use it though. With plant based products there's a concern too that some people will automatically assume it must be safe, or effective just because it's "natural".

We have a Congress that's being choked on this matter by the religious right.

That's why it's so important that we are able to research what cannabis does. Not just for the benefits, but also the cons.
