I went to a meeting in Sacramento Saturday evening.
This group appears to have traction former movements like the tea party have not had.

Californias most critical issue is it's solvency. Globalism has come to mean money from others solves all problems. Well it doesn't. California has as many tent cities as Seattle.
New California believes its prosperity can be recovered with sound financial policy. This will only happen if the politics change. State government must return to it's former governance, to a republic, where direct democracy is moderated by a Senate.
After the 1964 Reynolds versus Sims ruling Californias Senate was emasculated from it's special role of representing our states respective counties.
A comparison would be the federal government without a Senate, or an electoral college.
Democracy means totalitarianism, the president said.
A renewed or new state republic, a bicameral state legislature, is the goal of the group.

Democracy means totalitarianism, the president said. Venezuela style, that is. Trust the president to say such a thing.

Human nature, direct demoncracy, has to be checked for a nation to survive.

The theory goes if you build complexity into representation you can avoid or moderate tyrannies from majorities.

The theory goes if you build complexity into representation you can avoid or moderate tyrannies from majorities. You mean, checks and balances? We have a very complex set of checks and balances now. They're not working. Why not?

Not enough wisdom in the electorate. People should spend less time playing video games and chatting and more time reading old books, the ones that were regarded as being able to offer a world class education.

So who is going to be assigned to check on things in the absence of a properly educated population? BTW, playing video games and chatting doesn't prevent anyone from becoming politically wise.

Against the law eh?
There are no rules in modernity.
America formed against the laws of Britain.
Trump was elected against the laws of democrats.
And UFO's keep appearing inspite of our efforts to deny them.
Welcome to reality. The new normal, was really the old.

Against the law eh? There are no rules in modernity. Check my third comment below. Not that clear cut. Eleven colonies revolted against the role of the British king and each declared themselves independent states/countries. At least one of the colonies changed as few as two or three words in their colonial constitution to call themselves a state instead of a colony. I think you should call it against the "principle" of democracy. Proving that there really are rules in modernity. Let's say there is something undemocratic about the rules set out by the US Constitution for how a president it elected. Trump was legally elected according to the "RULES". Where are there no rules in modernity? The administrations of Maduro and Trump. And Trump is building a seawall in Ireland to protect his golf course from being swallowed up by the rising oceans. Yes. Ivanka declared "Perception is more important than reality. If someone perceives something to be true, it is more important than if it is in fact true. This doesn't mean you should be duplicitous or deceitful, but don't go out of your way to correct a false assumption if it plays to your advantage."Vicky Ward, Kushner, Inc. Saint Martin's Press, New York, 2019. page 32 If you're not outrages, you're not really paying attention.

Do you really think that will change because there is yet another 'new platform'? New California's effort to give rural and semi-rural areas more political power is a positive move. No one espouses the idea, -left or right, but it's my position that urban areas should be limited to 100,000 people or less. Nature is a powerful servant of God. When people are allowed to become too domesticated and citified they lose touch with reality, with God.
