There is not any justification for civilians owning military style weapons. They should be restricted solely to military only. Personally I would like to see more restriction on owning guns. Unless you need it because of an occupation requirement i.e. Farmer, then you should not own one. Because we were no longer on a farm, and became townies I handed mine in years ago. There is just no valid reason to have them in the house. There is no need for them to be in the country.

Let us hope that we never become like America by relaxing gun laws. Australia and New Zealand people deplore violence, and the majority of people want it kept that way. Polling shows strong support for gun legislation in Australia with around 85 to 90% of people wanting the same or greater level of restrictions. Guns are a curse, and should always have strict ownership conditions placed on them.

I can't understand for the life of me why any 2x2 would want to take up arms. They of all people should condemn it. We were always told that we were not to take up arms. After all God protects them, and even if something happens they go to a better place. So it is not logical for them to own a gun. Do Workers in America carry guns???.

I’ve have just listened to parliament in N.Z. A couple of people in the Islamic faith were invited & opened with their prayer and then our N.z. Prayer was given. The prime minister Jacinda Ardern spoke next.A powerful politician/ ambassador for N.Z. & admired by many. The opposition leader quoted Martin Luther King “ darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light”. There is a great spirit of care and unity in N.Z. at present. New Zealand is stronger than this coward. The prime minister refused to use the perpetrator’s name; give them the notoriety they seek. All political parties are united & committed to making changes to law regarding guns. I believe they represent the majority of N.zealanders.

Regardless of statistics there is absolutely no need in this country for that type of rifle. One does not need a semi auto rifle for hunting the types of game we have here. What other need could there be?

when the SHTF you'll be singing a different tune i believe.... We have Christ have we not? Luk_22:36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. a sword is simply a good rifle now or pistol.....

Thank God that Australian people don't have that warped type of thinking, that is something we don't need.

I have just been watching the Prime Minister of NZ, Jacinda Arden paying a visit to the School that lost two students in the tragedy. What an amazing Woman, so inspirational, and you can see her sincerity, and strength of purpose to bring about change. We sure need more Woman like Jacinta to inspire us to become a more loving, kinder people. We would hope that somebody like Jacinta comes to power in America.
I guess the only positive message from this terrible event, is NZ telling the rest of the World to wake up, come to your senses.

Trump's response: I don't think there's a white terrorist threat … just a few very disturbed people.

New Zealand has always led the way when it comes to pacifism, mainly because of the influence of Woman. I remember another wonderful NZ PM, Helen Clark refusing to send troops to Iraq, instead sending 60 Engineers to help rebuild the country and support the United Nations. That is common sense in action, and how the World should follow their example.
We have had one Woman PM in Australia, Julia Gillard, and it was because of her work, action was taken regarding CSA. It proves that there are areas that have been neglected by Men, and a Woman's influence is needed.
And of course the same applies to the Churches, Woman should have a far greater involvement in organisational issues. Male domination should cease, I am sure that the World would be a better place to live in.

And that is a negative post at this time. (Wallys)
There are words such as ‘progress’, new insights’ ‘change’ ‘ growth’ , perseverance, commitment, HOPE. Nothing in life would ever change for the better with that attitude.
Thanks Redback. The world needs more men like you.
