this is why i prep folks... professing.proboards.com/thread/27341/preppingluckily it was just appears to be structural damages and no deaths or injuries reported, power is out for about 7,000 people which could be a problem since its winter there... a number of folks of course were caught away from home and in their cars...so always remember to keep your tank 1/2 to 3/4 full just in case....

While I lived on the Island we had these little shake ups from time to time. Always were taught earthquake preparedness in our work places too. My daughter and family flew to the Island for a visit today. You do get used to them but I suppose it's not good to get too complacent. I agree that you should always have a plan in place and options if you do lose power. We always had camping stoves so we were good. In the 1996 snowfall we lost power for a couple of days and the neighborhood ended up coming to our place for coffee and hot soups. Glad we had a fire place then too.
