Dear Friends,
The time has come for us to share some recent developments with all of our friends in Florida, It is with a sense of sadness that we do so, as we know this will come as quite a surprise and the loss will be felt by all. About 2 1/2 months ago Denny & JoAnn Klepzig shared with us that there are plans set in motion to extensively develop the area around the Kelly Park Interchange on the new toil road just north of them. Our convention property is included in that area and we have concluded that in the near future our Apopka convention grounds will need to come to an end. We have discussed the situation with Denny & JoAnn, our FL/GA staff and with some of our older brothers elsewhere. The decision was made that our convention this October will be our last at these grounds. We all agree that building a new grounds in this state is not a viable option, so we have since explored other possibilities. We have held off sharing these developments with you until we were certain we had a new "plan" in place for 2019! We've now settled upon a location that we feel will meet our needs well and for a very reasonable price. It is the Sumter County Fairgrounds, 7620 State Rd 471, Bushnell, FL. This is Just a few miles east of Bushnell (and 1-75), so it is centrally located in Florida and should be easy access for most. True, it is not the traditional convention setting that we have grown to love through the years, but times are changing, and the reality is that we need to make some adjustments to how we will do things in the future. We are confident the Lord will continue to feed His children.
Next year our convention will be one week later than it has been - Oct 10-13, 2019. We will not have a meeting on Wed evening, but will have our first meeting Thursday AM and conclude Sunday afternoon. We will have the usual two hour meeting each morning, followed by a lunch break and then another two hour meeting in the afternoon. After the second meeting there will be another break. Then the Gospel meeting we have been accustomed to having at 7 PM will instead be in The late afternoon. Following the third meeting, all will be free to return to their homes, motels, RVs, etc. This venue has a very modern, well equipped kitchen. We will plan to serve a simple meal each noon to all, as well as refreshments between the two afternoon meetings. But all will be on their own for breakfast and supper.
There is room for many self-contained RVs on the fairground property. There is a possibility of some electrical hookups as well, but we will communicate with you about some of this during the coming year, as these details have yet to be settled. We are also looking into motel/hotel accommodations in the area. We will do our best to be sure there are accommodations for any and all who need them. Also, it could be that some friends within commuting distance will open their homes for others from further away to stay with them. As we have more information to offer, we will be in communication with you about these arrangements during this coming year.
Denny & JoAnn have counted it a privilege to have the convention at their place. Nothing would have pleased them more than for it to have continued at their place for many more years. We want to sincerely thank them for the many sacrifices they have made for the benefit of us all.
In past years we've had our last Florida Special meeting at the convention grounds. All of our staff & visitors have been at the Special meeting, and it has been open for any to attend from all over Florida. Next February 10th the Apopka area Special meeting will instead be held at the Clermont Performing Arts Center (3700 US Hwy 27, Clermont, FL. We want everyone to understand there is more than enough room there for anyone in Florida to attend. So please feel free to come just as you did when the Special meeting was at Apopka.
We would appreciate it if our elders would share this letter with everyone in your mtgs. Please feel free to communicate with us if you have any questions or concerns. We will communicate further with you as we have more information to share. And,.., thank you for being understanding.
The Florida/Georgia staff

I've heard since the provisions of foodstuffs having to come under governmental guidelines, that more states will turn more to renting venues for conventions that already have cooking and serving service that's been approved by the government. The staff doing the cooking will all have classes in preparation and serving. It may be considered to even hire staff that maybe provided by outside 2x2s.
One can't blame them for going commercial when governmental standards and rules have to be followed.

Interesting development. Has the potential to remove a lot of the fluff from going to convention. Might help put the focus back on the messages (firmly based in scripture, one would hope).
What has been the usual size of Apopka in recent times (i.e. attendees)?
This "We all agree that building a new grounds in this state is not a viable option", what might be behind this? Lack of suitable properties, finances, difficulty in complying with local regulations, risk of legal liabilities?
"True, it is not the traditional convention setting that we have grown to love through the years, but times are changing, and the reality is that we need to make some adjustments to how we will do things in the future. I think this is common practice in other countries where numbers of attendees and lack of properties owned by 2x2s preclude what we have come to regard as "traditional convention". E.g. in Italy? Maybe some of those Italian friends could come and give the cooking classes, or better still do the cooking for us? Numbers will increase, I can guarantee

Were Denny & JoAnn Klepzig from Illinois originally?
We had a couple of Klepzig families here at one time.

These are important realities. admin When Rogers, AR had to build a new cookhouse, etc. they had to go by city as well as state guidelines since the conv grounds are within city limits. They had a fire during preps that year and city I would not allow them to use the cookhouse. They had to have the conv at Clever, MO that year. Seems that was 2011?

I wonder how when I read convention notes from the US I find much spoken which is firmly based in scripture, many proverbs as Jesus spoke, but I would be very happy if you could furnish some messages which back up your claim. Cheers speak.

We had a couple of Klepzig families here at one time. Yes - the whole Klepzig family moved to Texas when the Denny and his bro--I forget his name were young unmarried men. The Roundrock Conv in TX was removed to their property in Georgetown, where it still it. I think Mr. has passed and the widow still lives there.

One of the important doctrines of the Christian Conventions group is that Convention sites are "Holy Ground". Usually, one of the opening sermons of convention, often given by a younger sister, emphasizes this fact.
I wonder if rented facilities are also claimed as "Holy Ground". Can Holy Grounds contain televisions? Can anyone confirm?

Do laptops count as having TVs in them? I'm sure laptops and mobile phones count as Tvs. Are they banned at convention?

I am sure that the workers will miss "preps". This is a chance to have some permanence...stability. Not having to pack a suitcase. And a break from preaching.

Are you sure you are professing? Doesn't sound like it to me!!! For many years it was essential to break off the radio aerials from cars before entering the holy convention grounds. Can you imagine the reaction of Eldon Tenniswood, Paul Sharp, or others if you announced that convention would be held on a fairground where beer was served to worldlings and televisions were present?

Are you saying the conventions are taken place at the SAME TIME as the fairground goes on with thousands of people are attending and they served beer and alcohol?
It doesn't matter what the workers do, people will always find fault about it... conventions, Oh the workers spend too much money to upgrade the conventions. When they have conventions on the fairgrounds then Oh, the fairground, sell beers and serve worldlings things... They can't win against the murmurers! and complainers.

Cheers speak. Florida is a snowbird state. Thus the conv might not have as many attendees as some other states conv. Though Apopka is later in the year then some, it still means many if the friends may not have migrated south yet, thus trying to buy a new property isn't reccomnendable. Even a state with a large number of friends decided not to go the property gaining route. NM rents a formal camp ground for two weeks a year for their conv. Dividing the friends in half for one week attendance only. We have to remember that the workers are sparse and not so many younger ones to build a new conv. So renting just for a conv is really being reasonable.

We had a brother worker who was very good about designing buildings that were multifunctional. Since he was pulled from one conv ground to another to build, rebuild, and upgrade till it looked like the poor man wasn't a preacher any more. And it's my understanding he isn't in the work anymore either.

Useta believe that holy ground nonsense because I was taught to do so. Got MY eyes opened when one year I, Ylva, and our two children along with enough food stuffs to feed the entire convention a couple of meals, were welcomed, the next year I was TOLD I could not attend due to TS blind judgement that made me person non-grata and so evil I would corupt those “holy grounds.”
So I escorted my wife, children, and those she took with them to the very holy gates, where under threat of police arrest if I went on those grounds, I complied by waiting off the grounds , returning to escort my loved ones home again. Did that for about five years.
My son, Jeff came to me in tears because a gang of local convention bullies beat him up because his father was so wicked. Begged NOT to go to convention or meetings, doing so was making him physically sick. Shortly afterward female workers told Ylva she was just too close to me to see how wicked I really was. That was the last straw for Ylva AND our daughter, they quit going to meetings and wonder of wonders that decision was blamed on me also.
So, I became too bitter of heart, according to workers! So much more that I could relate, but why bother? Ylva has died, my parents disowned me through disinheritance and lies. Those oil rights this year alone are producing around $25,000.00 that is going to my daughter, who now apparently is so ashamed at what she has done she cannot even face me. (Sad sad sigh.) DAJ
