I have always enjoyed listening to Deep Purple. Hopefully there are some other old people here who remember this fabulous band of men when men had hair. www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7ZF2xaNhyw

I used to listen to Deep Purple. I liked them. Haven't heard them in years though. With my hearing listening to music with words is just frustrating! I can listen to the old stuff and remember the words but anything new I have to read the lyrics to get the jist of things. Frustrating!

Deep Purple was my first concert I ever went to. It was 1986, I was 14. I saw them in Hartford, CT. Was amazing

I went to the Metallica concert last Friday in Sacramento, CA. I doubt there are many, if any fans here, but it was AMAZING!

I like Metallica. I can count the concerts I've been to on a deformed hand.

I just wasn't prepared for how LOUD it was! I've always loved that song. Edited to add: I like how he mentions the phrase "narrative story song" in the youtube clip. One of my favorite story songs has always been Alice's Restaurant.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=us7uyL9tY-wI love listening to the Finn brothers, here they are together fronting their old band somewhere in OZ. I love the digs they give the Aussies.

I've been intending for some time to say that I think the New Zealand national anthem has the most civilized lyrics of any.

I grew up in a 2x2 home. Music and TV were of the devil. I rarely listen to music today. I love the sounds of nature.

I like to think there’s a higher power, something that inspires some dignity in our N.Z. people and in children. I enjoy seeing the kids sing it. But I understand how you may feel Curly.

During the second world war the haka was used to very good effect on the Germans in Nth Africa. Prior to the battle at Al Alamein the 28th Battalion did several very loud hakas within earshot of the Germans. Apparently (so the story goes) the Germans left that part of the battlefield as they did not want to be killed by a bunch of cannibals. Montgomery also held the 28th in reserve sometimes so he could use it on trouble spots. They were a fearsome fighting force.
