I heard that someone that was at the gathering said that at the beginning before it started a Mr N addressed the crowd. Anybody know if this is true and what was said Sounds very strange but then a lot of things are

I am told it was the only gathering that weekend so all the "workers" would have been there - prove that it has been seen by those who do be on this board. No feedback proves it was fault finding / fact stating, as if it was encouraging there would have been 20 replies by now All will be revealed - keeping quiet leads to speculation of further abuse or such like

It was not norman Nash it was his brother Robert, he was basically calling out that prick tommie gamble and his successor Craig Fulton saying they were ruining people's lives! Don't know much else bar that he spoke for about fifteen minutes and Craig Fulton asked him to sit down saying this was neither the time nor place! Also a man who investigates cults was there for the full convention and is doing a report on his findings! He is from dialogue ireland and his name is mike garde, I know tommie gamble tried to run away from this guy in the past! All is on the dialogue ireland website, if I get any more information I will pass it on.

I'm wondering if Mike Garde will eventually conclude that he can't actually find out anything useful from Craig Fulton anymore than he could with Tommie Gamble, or if he'll lose interest in the 2x2s. If Craig starts talking with him openly about all the issues he's raised, I'll explode with surprise. There doesn't seem to be any mention of this unusual speech, whatever it was, on the Dialogue Ireland site.

I suspect Mike may mention it in due course but he is probably trying to be balanced and focus on what was taught etc. Will be interesting to see his account in due course. It's not totally unusual for someone to take aim at the workers during testimony time - I've heard a few over the years. Thinking back to the conventions I attended thirty years ago as a child, it's nearly impossible to imagine anyone saying anything out of turn there. I'm not sure that's changed in the UK, but things sound a bit more lively in Ireland from what I hear.

There have been a few interesting episodes at UK conventions in recent years. Personally, I don't feel that testimony time at convention is the right time or place to air a grievance. But on the other hand, if people feel that they have tried to enter into a dialogue but are not being listened to, what do you expect ....

In such cases, I've heard of workers calling for a song so the singing drowns out the dissenter's disruption...a peaceful, effective intervention.

But on the other hand, if people feel that they have tried to enter into a dialogue but are not being listened to, what do you expect .... I'd love to know more, if you have any links or feel like writing about it. I so agree with you there ... it's not the right place to air grievances, but it's apparently ended up that some people felt it was the only place they could actually make any progress. One guy who's clearly a very civilised, intelligent, decent and pleasant person actually advised me that gemming up on the many scandals that have hit the 2x2s and confronting head workers at a convention armed with that knowledge was about the only effective way he'd found of getting anywhere with them. I can't imagine him for a moment feeling the need to do that with any other church. Neither would I actually consider doing that with any other church that I've encountered. Mind you, I've never personally had problems with any other church either. My mother now sees "the meetings" as having fallen somewhat into the hands of foxes, and was heartened to hear that people were actually tackling them about the problems. There comes a point when people stop just wanting to protect the reputation of their religion and start wanting to protect the integrity of it instead -- especially when the reputation of their religion has fallen below zero, and you can hardly look it up without seeing the word "cult".

Wonder will we ever hear fully what was said. Hope we will - He should come on board , if not already on it and state his grievances / facts. Heard that Mr Garge of Dialogue Ireland wasn't there the first day but this may be wrong. He had a private room to himself.
