A sister worker in my field told me that when those who are in their field stand up with a testimony @ convention, it makes them (the worker in the field) look good. It makes them feel like they've done their job.
After hearing that guilt usually motivated me to give a testimony.
Also, I was an elder's wife and seems all the other elders & wives in the field gave a testimony. I felt it was my responsibility.

I agree with you, John. As for those that say they were told everyone should have a part at convention, special mtg...what if everyone DID? There wouldn't be time, for one thing.... M.

It makes them feel like they've done their job. That's your way of looking at it, and exes would say that, wouldn't they? Here's another way to look at it: workers like to see their own stand because it shows they are seeking to do the right thing.

The lead worker on the platform would say "That's enough. No more stand please." And some more would stand later. The lead worker again would say "No more stand please."

It's a secret way of getting back to the workers. No, actually they were so full of joy and excitement that they wanted to confess and beat themselves some more. No, they wanted to show how sincere they were. No, I don't know why they or I did it.

i was at convention, sunday afternoon, and the worker asked that only those that this was the only convention they were getting this year and had not taken part yet give testimonies, and to keep it simple, an expression of thankfulness and of purpose. well this guy stands up and starts out, "this is my sixth convention this year, and blah blah i have taken part in all of them...blah blah." you should have been there... maybe someone was, it was either santee or buttonwillow, i can't remember which, maybe ten years ago, more..... it was funny....

Ya know you've gotta give your testimony at convention or you lose the brainwashing affect, that's why they do the "it's your last chance or your gonna be sorry routine" Brad
