As I understand it, money donated in meetings to workers and not spent by them on their own needs is given to the UK overseer at, for example, workers' meetings. It's passed to someone or some people on his behalf, who then distribute it to certain key elders, who keep it for the overseer so that money can be spent on conventions, sending workers oversees, etc. Since this is only what I've heard, it could be completely wrong, of course. It's entirely legal, since gifts are not subject to tax in the UK.
But I've been wondering who these key elders are. Does anyone know of any, past or present? Generally they seem to be wealthy people who are good with financial stuff.
Or does anyone know of workers who have left "the work" relatively somewhat recently and might know?
If you do, please send me a private message if your reply contains personal details, since the terms of this board forbid mentioning personal details.
Apologies to those who feel I'm wrong to be curious about this. There is nothing wrong in it, since overseers do have expenses and money is donated freely in full knowledge of that. I have no intention of contacting these elders. I'm just wondering how many of them there are and who and where.
