Subject: Fw: Apoka, FL Conv. this week

Dear friends -
As we started gathering at our convention grounds Wednesday at Apoka in
central Florida , hurricane Matthew projections for the coming day had
shifts in its trajectory more westerly. All afternoon supports were added
to the mtg shed. We had a nice supper and an informal mtg where Rogelio
Tioaquen told us a little of the work in the Phillipines the Bernard
Manning shared some about Eastern Europe . It was decided after the night
snacks that the tents would be taken down after breakfast Thursday morning
and more outer supports to shore up the back apron of the mtg shed. So
after breakfast on Thursday about a 100 friends on the grounds immediately
set to task and it was encouraged that the grounds would be evacuated. All
the local friends opened their homes and others took refuge in nearby
hotels. Those who would have come on Thursday morning were encouraged to
stay put. There were gas shortages In The area as well. Thurs night the
rains and wind started we lost power at a home 3 miles away from the
grounds. But damage so far to the grounds is minimal. Word this morning is
that they will have a supper on the grounds tonight and meetings will resume
tomorrow with revisions. There will be revisions to our dining as the tents
are stowed in the men's barn with all the tables. Looking forward to the
privilege. Our hearts were saddened as we took down what was prepared the
last weeks, in just a few short hours. We will treasure what has been
preserved for us. From all accounts Miami didn't get much as the hurricane
passed through the Bahamas so will plan to return home the 4 hour trip
