Can you be more forth coming? Yes, it came right before the fifth which preceded the sixth .. there are “some” that may believe the fifth preceded the forth , and thus became the forth event! and that may be Never mind.

Can consciousness exist apart from communication/(linguistics) ?
It could as well be an integral part , imo

Thanks My experience has been with a 5 year old child who was both deaf and blind. Her feet were deformed so she had never learned to walk, and to my knowledge never learned to crawl. But she was conscious. If you held food close to her so that she could smell it, she would get animated and begin opening her mouth. One of the most amazing students I ever worked with.

Yes, indeed, there are some that are (challenged )
And do exhibit their person by communicating in
a fascinating manner . Helen Keller comes to mind, also,
We could also include some people that are in comma state, if they are able to respond to
An application of intentioned response to their environment.
This is a good example of how personalities manifest themselves in various amazing manners
(My apologies that perhaps I was misunderstood also by specifying only (linguistics) when I
meant that as a specific form of communication??
Thanks for sharing your amazing ability to communicate with this special child, do hope
She was able to learn from your thoughtfulness toward her.
Thanks again

Also , I have a second cousin that is “challenged “ (deaf/ can’t ‘talk’ normally)
Her mother understands what she wants and needs , by the tones of her uttering
She is doing quite well in spite of this and I has been independent of her mother for several (12 ) years , counting 🙂

If you held food close to her so that she could smell it, she would get animated and begin opening her mouth. One of the most amazing students I ever worked with. Some protozoans take in foods by pinocytosis, small amounts of nutriment are pinched off into digestive vacuoles along the surface of the cell. This is not unlike animation noted when the presence of food is detected. If the only example of animation was when the presence of food was detected would you consider that protozoans are conscious? Protozoans also react to electric currents, bright lights, temperature change, change in salinity of their environment, etc. but are these examples of being conscious? Although the work of James McConnell was criticized (the Unibomber sent him a bomb) and mostly rejected for a number of reasons new research by Michael Levin is re-evaluating the work on flatworms to determine if learned behavior (memories) can be stored in cells outside of the nervous system. But still no (little?) support for the cannibalistic findings of the early 60s. Guess knowledge still needs to be acquired the old fashioned way...

Perhaps there are ‘degrees of consciousness’. ??
Fully conscious, fully responsive to every intentional stimuli Semi conscious, could respond to at least one stimuli , on an intentional basis
Now who is capable of this determination?? , perhaps a perfect Judicial opinion/ruling???
Thanks

Intentionality of responding -could be the key to basic “consciousness “??

What is not ‘reality’ ? The incomprehensible.../?? Hmmm

Hmmm[/q And human beings wrestle with the ‘infinite’ , ‘the ‘eternal’ , and all that seems ‘incomprehensible ‘ at the moment we are Searching. Reality: It is what it is, even if we are unconscious to much of it... 🙂😉
