I confess, I had long forgotten this word. Seems our Miley Cyrus, idol and example to millions of young people, has confessed to being "pansexual."theweek.com/speedreads/574498/miley-cyrus-said-identifies-pansexualIn a tease for her upcoming Elle UK cover story, Miley Cyrus said she identifies as pansexual, which means she considers herself attracted to people of all gender identities.
"I'm very open about it — I'm pansexual," she said. "But I'm not in a relationship. I'm 22, I'm going on dates, but I change my style every two weeks, let alone who I'm with."
The pop star and upcoming VMAs host had described her fluid sexuality similarly, without using the word pansexual, in a not-safe-for-work photoshoot with Paper Magazine in June.
"I am literally open to every single thing that is consenting and doesn’t involve an animal and everyone is of age," she said. "Everything that's legal, I'm down with. Yo, I'm down with any adult — anyone over the age of 18 who is down to love me. I don't relate to being boy or girl, and I don't have to have my partner relate to boy or girl."
You might say she's just being Miley. Julie KliegmanWe can be alert to violence and overt sex on TV - there's something implicit, or explicit, that it's "wrong." The problem comes from things which creep in as being "right."
I suppose "pansexual" could be a way for everyone to become "gay."
All this moral re-positioning stuff sure moves fast. A few generations ago they would lock you up for this. A few generations before that you would be killed. Bert, there is so much suffering caused on this planet by sexual abuse that I think we should cut Miley some slack. She makes it clear that consent (and above the age of consent) is important to her: I am literally open to every single thing that is consenting and doesn’t involve an animal and everyone is of age," she said. "Everything that's legal, I'm down with. Yo, I'm down with any adult — anyone over the age of 18 who is down to love me.Before we condemn Miley for her standards, let's concentrate on: 1. Eradicating sexual abuse from our fellowship. When that is achieved... 2. Eradicating sexual abuse from the societies in which we live. When that is achieved... 3. Eradicating sexual abuse from the whole world. When that is achieved... 4. You and I will probably be past our "best before" date and we might have to leave further moral reform to Miley's generation. Let's hope they leave this world a better place than our generation left it.

It wouldn't be MY choice...good God if I slept with everyone that was willing and ready...nope, can't go there. Maybe I'm just not that type. I just don't think that would very gratifying and - wouldn't it get a little old? Seen one, seem 'em all...type of thing.

But, on the subject of prostitutes: I don't really judge them. Do I think it's wrong to sell yourself for sex? Yes. But, having learned some about them and having even cared for some as nurse, I've seen that there is a reason for most every type of behavior. Many prostitutes have been abused-sexually and otherwise. Many of them don't always make cold hard cash from the deal, but get drugs for sex to feed their addictions. It's a dangerous trap and their life is often cut short. They become very unhealthy and often miserable and they are caught up in a life they find hard to escape. Many of them start off young as runaways to escape abuse at home. They end up wherever or on the street and when a pimp takes them in it sometimes a matter of having nowhere else to turn. The pimp provides a type of option. Don't know much about pimps, but some can also be abusive and mean. The prostitutes self esteem finds its way into the toilet and if they keep on in that life they become all used up. Once they are used up, it's even more difficult for them to dig their way out of the pit. They need deliverance, for sure.

I'm thinking we could start a thread sharing all the bizzare sexual stuff that non of us knew was possible. This seems like it could be very edifying for all. Please don't take us there...After dealing with naked bodies for 3 decades, I became very aware of something called "TMI."

Bitterbetty, I'm a nurse also & I also have concern about prostitutes (sex workers) but I don't see things quite like you in some respects. I am concerned about the world sex slave trade. I'm also concerned about the dangerous situations that sex workers live in because of their being illegal. I don't necessarily think that "it's wrong to sell yourself for sex." Many of the problems that you speak of affect society as a whole; a history of drugs, sexual abuse, lack of education. So those things affect others as well & if society would just quit victimizing sex workers & protect them as is done in some countries there would not be the problems that many have.
