Hello walker1903, (sorry if I misspelled..) I find you tag line interesting
Quote: Why is it that most atheists are so quick to tell you what they DON'T BELIEVE IN and hesitant to tell you WHAT they believe in? Sounds a bit strange, doesn't it. Well the Nothings have nothing to offer. Christians have a future while unbelievers think they will just die, rot and be forgotten. I challenge one atheist to tell me what set of principles or beliefs shape their lives? End Quote
The sincere question is, what do you think heaven will be like? What will we be doing? I just don't know any Christians who have much of a clear idea, or it is confusing? Hell seems to have a little more definition, but heaven seems pretty vague. Eternity is an awfully long time. Anyway, would appreciate your or any Christian's insight.
For my part, I don't particularly look forward to singing thanksgiving continually, but would I'm sure from time to time like we do now. It does speak of a new heaven and earth, and a sci fi 3d city with all the gold you could ever want.
So, what do you think (?), marrying, giving in marriage, fixing things, discussing things, making life better over time, learning things, a lot like we do now? ... just with a better class of people, with the bad apples gone?
One thing I'm pretty much counting on, or at least presuming would be true, is that everyone's thoughts, good and bad, would be an open book, and immediately apparent and understandable. I think that would be nice. And the nice thing is you know you wouldn't ever have to be conversing with incorrigibly bad apples, just redeemable ones. Of course I have no way of telling if this'll be true. What do you think?
Anyway, would appreciate your or anyone else's thoughts.

My favourite quote on heaven - God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. (Rev 21:4) And here is a favourite quote on heaven from William Blake - Men are admitted into Heaven not because they have curbed and governed their passions or have no passions, but because they have cultivated their understandings. The treasures of Heaven are not negations of passion, but realities of intellect, from which all the passions emanate uncurbed in their eternal glory. The fool shall not enter into Heaven let him be ever so holy.

A couple more from the web. I think you will like the first one, ettu.
What they do in heaven we are ignorant of; what they do not do we are told expressly.
Jonathan Swift (1667-1745)
Heaven goes by favor; if it went by merit, you would stay out and your dog would go in.
Mark Twain

Thanks what hat. I recently was reading the biography of Mark Twain, and it was scary how on point(edly) his quips could be. Interesting quote from W Blake. I guess a question like this allows us a chance to express our longings, hopes.
Lately, I've been realizing how insignificant our life is here, in the light of eternity. Even if we are here to a full old age. Really after a few billion years will we even know or care about here anymore? Presumably there'll be something much more interesting and satisfying that will engage us once there. Time will have effectively stopped, just like it says, so even the concept of an annual birthday (the day I was saved or born again for example), or even the concept of a day, will probably loose reference. And the thing is, a few billion years is barely even the beginning of an eternity. I wonder what we'll be doing that'll be of lasting love and interest?

Quote - "Why is it that most atheists are so quick to tell you what they DON'T BELIEVE IN and hesitant to tell you WHAT they believe in? Sounds a bit strange, doesn't it. Well the Nothings have nothing to offer."
Walker, The above quote is from your own profile.
You are always telling us what you don't believe. You are always Telling The Truth about us (or at least, selected parts.) Our privacy you call "secrets" and broadcast it on the internet. ? This question comes up from time to time - why don't you tell us what church YOU belong to? Why the secret?
If you don't answer these things then you come across as having Nothing to offer, but someone who wants to take away what others Have.

To identify with Christ is to identify in his death. Christianity is first experienced as the rejection of things. This is good! A world fined from sin is a good world!

Been over this a thousand times. There's this phenomenon in psychology called "Transference" or "Projection." The patient in question will transfer or project their own disabilities onto other people. And strangely enough, I encounter mostly in women.
It goes like this (and this more or less actually happened) Person - "they have no brains!" Me thinking - "she has no brains." Person - "and I wouldn't trust them" Me thinking - "and I would never trust you" Person - "I am sick of talking about it." Me thinking - "and you love talking about it."
And sometimes I actually warn people, "I am taking everything you say in reverse, 180 deg!!" and they will still do it.

Living forever in an environment that was just good would be boring as hell, wait it would be hell! Therefore I have just proved heaven does not exist! (oh dear, was that circular thinking...)

Then please give me a better example Dmmichgood. What I have provided is a practical example of how to read someone with that condition.
Here's an actual example: Many historians wonder why Hitler had such a pathological hatred of the Jews - even in as much as he would compromise his own war effort to kill them. But I noticed strange statements he made, like: The Jews want war. The Jews are overriding Europe. Who wanted war? Who was overriding Europe? He was. Same with Stalin - when he claimed there was a plot by Jews to kill him, what was he plotting? To kill the Jews. Apparently intelligence agencies studied Stalin this way.

Bert, when you start answering my questions, I will answer yours. That said, I don't support any particular system but prefer to know Jesus. My church isn't a building, group etc. It is HIM and HIM alone. To many groups put the emphasis on THEM instead of HIM.

Think of it as stress free living. Thanks walker. I was hoping for a little more detail, but, ... I guess there isn't much. Your heaven seems to be the message the Buddha brought too, including it's availability now, not just in heaven. I also like his concept of more than one life. For one thing it seems more fair to those cut off early in life. Ultimately as he saw it, as God's creation, none will fail. There are as many do overs available as needed to reach, as you would put it, heaven.

Snow, I think half the people here come for some stress and drama in their lives. Some, I wonder, specifically live here for it? What the heck, why not? Much can be learned.

I think you need to sometimes. For the most part I do enjoy the people who post here and love the diversity of thought. I don't like the fighting but then who does. However, if it was all sunshine and lollipops that might not be as interesting either!
