Please indicate your perception of where the Holy Spirit dwells on the TMB In the voice of God's people! I know know that you believe this and that certain people claim this. What I'm looking for is evidence for this in practice on the TMB. I have followed several threads closely over recent weeks with posts both from those who would claim to have the Holy Spirit dwelling within and those who wouldn't. My dilemma is that what I was raised to believe were the fruits of the Holy Spirit appear to be more prevalent in the posts of those who claim not to have the Holy Spirit dwelling within than those who do. I'm starting to wonder what conclusion should I draw. Matt10

Whether it is a vain hope remains to be seen. Matt10

Please indicate your perception of where the Holy Spirit dwells on the TMB Lol..you are being humourous right? The holy spirit dwells in temples not made with hands. Human beings. Not a building nor a website.

Not a building nor a website. The poll clearly doesn't suggest that the the Holy Spirit dwells within a building or a website so it's a mystery why you should write such a thing. In fact the first four options clearly refer directly to the dwelling of the Holy Spirit in human beings. A mystery indeed. Matt10

I'm not sure being led by the Holy Spirit is a good thing based on what I see the results of it can be sometimes on here.

The evidence anyone would be looking for would be the fruit of repentance and the fruit of the holy spirit which are things like kindness love longsuffering tolerance joy hope etc. The opposite to anger nastiness resentment cruelty. Im sure you know this.

I should also say if someone is hurt and their words seem mean then I would not attribute the response as being lead by the holy spirit more that their human flesh is reacting.

Also there are a number of christians who come here who will know this topic but never attempt to comment. Why do you think that is?

Im sure you know this. I know what the fruits of the spirit are, or at least what they are supposed to be. I know all the theory. What I am trying to figure out is why the things which you list as the opposite of the fruits of the spirit often seem so prevalent in those who would claim to have the Holy Spirit dwelling within while what are deemed to be the fruits of the spirit are often appear more prevalent in those who would claim that they do not have the a Holy Spirit dwelling within. It's a bit of a mystery to me. Could it be that having the Holy Spirit dwelling within makes not a blind bit of difference to how one conducts themselves publicly? Could it be that the Holy Spirit actually dwells within everyone whether they're a believer or not? Could it be that the Holy Spirit is actually much weaker than the flesh and therefore is unable to influence the believer in such a way as to produce the fruits of the spirit? Could it be that the Holy Spirit hides under a bushel? I'm beginning to realise that no one around here knows very much about the Holy Spirit in practice. Matt10

The F&W have a poor habit of outwardly, testing the ambiance and disposition of their immediate community. We should not be judging outwardly but inwardly. Its a whole different animal.

It's not my index of the fruits of the Holy Spirit. I don't have an index of the fruits of the Holy Spirit. My perception is based on the fruits of the spirit as put forward by those who would claim belief in the existence of a fruit bearing Holy Spirit. However I'm quite content to consider using a more reliable index once you put one forward. Matt10

If you don't have an index of the evidence of the holy spirit, no one can give you one. I pray to God he will perturb you in such a manner you acquire one.

Matt10 I can only really judge myself on this. I dont agree that the holy spirit is weak. He is the power of god. He doesnt push himself on people. Individuals are responsible for their behaviour. They are also responsible for how much they are desiring to be obedient to the lord in serving him. Being available, to his leading. There is a saying that you can lead a horse to water but you cant make him drink. Everyone is on their own individual journey. Might it be better if you ask the individuals concerned. The holy spirit convicts me. When I am convicted I choose whether to correct my behaviour or not. That involves humbling myself and being teachable. I am like most people I have the ability to react and be vocal and not always speak in a gracious manner. At some point we need to see that people do get provoked on message boards.

By evident could mean by the things we post about the Holy Spirit which are evident that we believe in Him. Can't speak for anyone else, but I was referring to some of the nasty stuff that gets posted by people that claim the Holy Spirit guides them. Personally I don't pay much attention because I don't believe in the Holy Spirit and people are people. I find that when people post things designed to humiliate, hurt or put one in their place as sometimes happens here, it's because of their own pain showing through. Someone who is at peace with themselves usually reflects that in their interactions with others. So when I see those posts I often wonder what is hurting them so bad that they feel it's necessary to hurt others. Psychological rather than Holy Spirit. And, I'm just as capable as anyone of posting negatively, and it's usually when I feel bad myself.

Not sure what Lee meant, but you reminded me of workers preaching that we should pray for our unprofessing loved ones to have hard experiences which would drive them to God. And I heard prayers like that. It was hard for me...I would just pray that God do whatever it would take. I don't think God is limited to upsetting people. Maybe a more appropriate prayer is that God would show his love and wonder through good things...

It seems to me that it just makes the love of those believers for their family members and loved ones that much more conditional and drives a wedge that much deeper between them. From my pov, it is tragic and senseless.

From my pov, it is tragic and senseless. That is the one thing that I still mourn, for lack of a better word. Because I didn't profess and didn't believe in God there was no one for me to talk to. I couldn't talk to my parents about any of the things I encountered in my daily life because I wasn't supposed to be having that kind of life in the first place. I really wish that I had parents I could have discussed some important things with and that's why I was so angry (at first) about Irvine. I figured my parents would never have been part of that religion if they had known it was just as man made as any of the ones they looked down on. I now know it likely wouldn't have changed anything with them anyway. My wanting a normal childhood still causes me some sadness when I think about it.

I hear what Matt10 and others are saying (I think).
Religious dissention and biblical literalism tends to bring out the "acts of the flesh", so does that mean the leading of the Spirit is not about those things?
If love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control are expressed in someone's life....does that mean they are led by the Spirit whether they believe or not?

What version are you quoting from fixit? The KJV says "the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance". There's quite a difference between "faith" and "faithfulness" and between "meekness" and "gentleness". If a person doesn't believe in God, obviously they won't have the fruit of faith.
