But I was always told that it is God Who takes your peace away if you are not in His Will...
I think perhaps demons prefer to lull folks into a FALSE type of peace; one in which they think everything's just fine, when really, it's not fine...

I guess there could be two different types of 'disturbing the peace' here. One type of disturbing the peace that I can readily think of is when discord is sown among brethren. I've been at gatherings and get-togethers before in which everything seemed to be going along nicely until someone showed up and brought a bad spirit with them. I have felt compelled to leave at such times. The friends and workers I believe are often lulled into that false sense of peace and security simply by becoming creatures of habit and thinking that as long as they go to meeting and take part they are in the will of God. But that may not be so....maybe God has a different plan for them and would like them to step out of their comfort zone. Oh, the enemy of the soul just LOVES it when people are professing, but not possessing, when they are distracted and also when they are too busy to be in true communion with God.

Greg, the "friends and workers" may self-identify as the friends and workers more today and really always did to a degree. If you were planning to go to another part of the country you would ask who the "friends" were in that part of the country so you find where the meetings were.
You would probably ask a "worker" who could give you an address.
I think that the name 2x2's came about on this & other boards as a way of more clearly helping understand that it was the religious group who sent out the workers as two companions together to preach. In my day was simply known as "THE TRUTH" or "THE WAY."
Now I'm telling you this because I'm assuming that you really didn't know this and not being obtuse !
Knew that. Thanks. I find it easier to type 2x2s than f&w..just me. If I was speaking face to face I would refer to the friends.

NathanB has taken the name 2x2 for his own identifier (as has bert and perhaps a couple others) and has wrongly identified the friends and workers - past and present - as 2x2s."
What do you mean by the statement that the friends and workers, past and present- have been wrongly identified as 2x2s?

NathanB claims to be a 2x2. NathanB has given his identifier/name for the friends and workers as the 2x2s. I think NarhanB is a 2x2. I do not think the friends and workers are the 2x2s in that they self-identify as the friends and workers and that their registered names are few, but nothing world-wide. Hmmmm....I do not know if world-wide they self-identify as friends and workers, but I'm going with that. Such is my experience and understanding.

I totally agree with you that folks could have a demon and even for a very long time and not have an awareness about it. That's part of the deceit. Perhaps one of the symptoms of having a demon is simply when things are done in excess such as drinking to excess, or there is an imbalance in a person. But that also accounts for many s/s of mental illness. Is it you opinion that all mental illness is caused by demons. In my opinion, we don't really know for sure.

In fact I did not like to use that term 2x2's when I first came onto the board because I felt it to be rather derogatory and something that only "outsiders" used to identify the group, -a kind of slang term.
Somewhat like outsiders once called the group started by the early workers in Ireland as the "GO-Preachers" or the "Cooneyites." Those terms were used quite early on by people outside of the group.
However, for convenience sake in order to identify what group I was posting about, I finally gave in & use the term.

The demons want to live/possess/own people bodies, minds and souls for all eternity as their slaves. They want to keep people's souls in misery, chained like that man/legion. Satan, the fallen angels, and the demons will NOT allow into the New heaven and the New earth so they don't want anyone to be there either. Slaves for what? Manufacturing? Picking cotton? What use does a demon have for a slave? Why would the demons want to be in heaven? They do not agree with the party line in heaven so not being there would be exactly what they want. Being in heaven would be the punishment for them.

Believe it or not, there are entities that are sexually abusive...those being known as the succubi and the incubi who visit sleeping men and women and engage in sexual relations with them. Also, it is not unknown for discarnate humans to attempt sexual activity with the living. Is this what you are talking about when you speak of succubi and the incubi according to beliefs in medieval times?
"Due to the widespread prevalence of these myths, many anthropologists and psychologists believe them to be supernatural explanations for sleep paralysis and hypnagogic and hypnopompic hallucinations.
"A common thread in these stories is an inability to move, which fits well with sleep paralysis. They also speculate that in religions with sexual taboos like Christianity, the demons offered a convenient "devil made me do it" excuse.
"Unwanted pregnancies, incest, and nocturnal emissions (intentional or not) could be blamed on incubi or succubi." (wiki)
The sleep paralysis and sexual encounters bear some resemblance to what is sometimes passed off today as alien abduction. Purported victims of such abductions regularly report being frozen in bed and sexual reproduction with aliens or probing is also a common thread. The underlying psychological experience is likely to have been very similar, but explained away by whatever was most culturally relevant at the time: in older times, demons, and in more modern times, extraterrestrials
Perhaps you are you referring to articles in the present by Lawrence Wilson.

Slaves for what? What use does a demon have for a slave ? Is there a chance that your god will lose? Seems like the demons can also understand the meaning of omnipotent. I must say, NathanB, none of this hangs together very well. It sounds much like a story that humans would make up.

Driving under influence of Alcohol have killed many people... Demon possessed come in many forms NOT just speaking in all different known languages, levitation, walking in four legs, or having mark 666 on people body, or forehead. Satan, fallen angels, and demons are very subtle, sneaky, very intelligent beings. And yet with this happening all the time in many people it has never been observed or verified. How odd. Can you show us a person who has the 'mark of the beast'? Seems like there must be some examples... Wouldn't it be good to verify that this really happens?

Satan, fallen angels, and demons are very subtle, sneaky, very intelligent beings. So true. Sneaky, subtle, beguiling, deceitful. The experience we had with that Ouija board so many years ago was proof of this. When we first started using the board we made 'contact' and started communicating with an entity who called herself 'Darlene' and she told us she was from the 1800's, died of dissentary and seemed to be a good, harmless spirit. We tested her by asking her certain questions and the way she/it answered made us believe she must have lived in a different century indeed...This went on for some time. My dad was very skeptical about this Ouija board. I had one sister who really liked it. I was a bit skeptical too. Was it REALLY a good spirit? hmmm. One day, it went all haywire and started spelling out things that very unlike this benevolent 'Darlene'. So, my other sister confronted the entity and just flat out asked, "Who are you?! Are you Darlene or the devil?!" It answered the devil and started flying around all over the place. I gotta hand to my one dear sister who very decisively just told the evil spirit, "That's enough of you. I'm going to throw you in the stove to burn. We don't want you here." And that was the end of it. But, see how we were fooled?

Some people are tormented by spirits..gtg Yes, the mentally is are often tormented and live with that torment. Many of them even describe hearing or seeing demonic voices, faces and these demonic forces are not nice or good. I know of one family not too far from where I live here in which a son stabbed his father to death. He was indeed mentally ill and had been for quite some time. He said the 'demons' drove to kill his father. I also know of another family in which one of the sons during adolescence started showing signs of being mentally ill and he described to his mother whenever he went off his meds that the demon voices were coming back. So, she made sure he got back on his meds and stayed on them. I know of many people who do very well on medication and not very well OFF medication. Many are more likely to commit crimes or use other mind-altering substances when they are not on their meds. But, just being on meds is not the whole/complete answer. They need to be the RIGHT medication with the RIGHT dose to be properly effective. Just my two cents.

This thread certainly gives me a greater understanding why mental illness is still so much of a stigma in society. It also explains why when there are funding cuts mental illness programs are the first to feel those cuts. If there are still people in the world that think that mental illness is the same as being demon possessed it makes sense why so little is done. This is 2015 and we still equate mental illness with being demon possessed. Rather depressing state of affairs.

This is 2015 and we still equate mental illness with being demon possessed. Rather depressing state of affairs. Mental illness, and sexual perversion have SOME connection with demon-possession... To deceive most people in the world, Satan wants us to believe demon possessed does NOT exist today! Satan, and the fallen are NOT real. They are created by our own imagination. It's all in your mind. It is easier for the demons to take over people bodies when they are NOT stable in their thinking, minds, and being sexually abused as children.
Those of us have encountered spiritual warfare with evil entities we know better.... THEY are REAL! as you and me but they can be invisible to the naked eyes. They can show themselves as they wish, they can take on bodily form, Orbs, etc...
I disagree with this 100% and believe that this kind of belief is dangerous and negates the truth about mental illness. It is really quite distressing to think people believe this stuff still. But it does explain an awful lot of stuff about how people view mental illness. No wonderunderstanding it lags behind the rest of medically diagnosed illnesses if people still believe this about it.

The experts who don't think it's related to demonic influences don't know the EXACT causes of mental illness either. Nor have they come up with a 100% fail safe cure. For myself, the saying; “The devil made me do it” is an excuse used to absolve personal responsibility. Each should be accountable for their own actions, and not blame others.

Just because we don't have all the answers doesn't mean we do anyone any good by saying demons are the cause of mental illness. I just finished a course in clinical neurology and I think we do know a lot about the brain, just not enough. So correct me if I'm wrong, but do you advocate the mindset of 'Satan of the gaps' then? If we don't understand mental illness then we blame demons and the devil? That, imo, sets us back centuries and does no one any good because it places a label on it so people will not go for help when they need it because of fear of what others might think. If people are thinking anyone with a mental illness is possessed by demons, I can certainly understand a bit better the reluctance of people to get help and medication.

I do have a story but out of respect for someone I will wait to tell it. Kurtz. From what Ive learned and seen as a christian. Demons are real they do affect peoples lives. There are ways of getting rid of them according to scripture. Sometimes it involves excorsizing the house or where they are living. Anyone who states that it isnt real is ignorant IMO. My pastor cut his teeth early in the ministry in Indonesia. Try telling him that the kingdom of darkness doesnt exist. The thing is people get 'hung up' on demons. Especially if they have had no exposure. Its a subject we should know and understand as christians. Particularly any person in leadership. If not you will have problems you wont be able to deal with. All kinds of problems. Jesus Christ came to set people free. When they are free they are free indeed. Jesus should be our focus. Not demons. It is his name his blood and the power of the cross that drive them out. For some reason on TMB the argument against demonic bondage seem to only be about mental illness. What about all the others? Il brain storm...anitchrist, death and hell, Jezebel..Babylon..confusion, misery, terror, envy, hatred, self pity, perversion, pedophiliar, the list is huge. They affect people lives. There are plenty of books on the subject..

Anyone who states that it isnt real is ignorant IMO. For some reason on TMB the argument against demonic bondage seem to only be about mental illness. What is it about "mental illness" that it is the last of the diseases that people want to claim as being from "demonic bondage ?" At different times in history, many diseases were thought to be due to "demonic bondage." Why is it that "mental illness" is still believed to be caused by "demons?"
People right here on TMB keep saying, "take you medicine, -don't stop taking your medicine," all the while acting as if "mental illness" is due to "demons!"
Is it because that it affects our "mind" & therefore we think that we are in control of our minds or should be control of our minds and if not, it is "demon" causing it? Is that the reason that the last of our organs, the brain, is considered to be in "demon bondage?"
Whereas, if it were our liver, our heart, our bladder, our lungs, etc.,- we would not think that it was "demon" related!" Can't we understand that our "brain" is an organ just as is our lungs and that our mind has physical function as does our lungs etc.?
