I think Peter only cut off one ear, not both..... And..... Jesus didn't tell Peter to get rid of his sword, did he? We don't read of any of the Apostles going poop either I don't think, but pretty sure they did. Since most folks in those days probably carried a sword, it wouldn't be a big deal not mentioning it. Opps, sorry I meant Ear not ears.... We don't read in the book of Acts that any of the apostles carry any sword/s because after Jesus resurrection, they knew and undstood there wouldn't be any insurrection against ROME. Jesus said in John 18:36 Jesus answered, “My Kingdom is not of this world. If My Kingdom were of this world, then would My servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews. But now is My Kingdom not from hence.”
If Jesus wanted to overthrown Rome, his apostles and disciple wouldn't need to carry any sword to fight because His Father in heaven would have sent 12 legions of angels to defend Jesus. In the Old Testament it took ONE angel to kill 186,000 Assyrians in one night. Rome army wouldn't stand a chance against God's angels.
This is a spiritual kingdom, and the disciples of Jesus didn't need to fight or defend with knives and swords but with to win others hearts, minds, and souls by telling the story of Calvary's.I agree with the spiritual kingdom, and don't need to defend with natural knives and swords 2Corinthians 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; ) But they won hearts, minds and souls by spreading the whole gospel, (not just Calvary's.) Which includes his life!

Yes, I agree that Jesus life and Calvary's Cross/His death save us...
Paul wrote in I Cor. 1:18-19 For the preaching of the cross is foolishness to those who perish; but unto us who are saved, it is the power of God. For it is written: I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.... verses 23-25 we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling block, and unto the Greeks foolishness, but unto those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ, the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
1 Corinthians 2:6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. We will have to agree to disagree!

We will have to agree to disagree! So, what are we disagreeing on? in your verse and mine. I can't understand the connection. We will have to disagree on which death Jesus came here for, I believe it was wrong to crucify Jesus, you don't. I believe we're saved by his life and him dying to self on his body the cross, you believe it's him dying in a wooden cross, There's no point in going over it continually! Paul said I am crucified with Christ. He wasn't literally crucified on a cross! I believe Jesus had to endure to the end to overcome Satan, as do we if we follow him. You don't. I don't see the crucifixion as you do. But we can't keep going over it. So we'll have agree to disagree on these things!

Yes, you and I have two different understanding about Salvation, and the Cross of Calvary/death of Jesus.Anyway Nathan last night I went to the meeting, and guess what the are talking about? The signposts! Two of our meeting have just been to Ireland and when they got back they said about the signposts like we said about them being like men of God of old. How they've been there for years. But then they said the was a sat nav in the car, and it was showing them pictures and they could here the voice directing them in the car. And they said it's good to have the signposts showing you the way (men of God) but its better to have God's spirit showing and speaking to you directly in the heart to guide you more perfectly! I thought of you and our conversation straight away! I thought it was really good and confirming what we had been talking about! Sorry for quoting I just wanted you to read this

No different than carrying a gun these days. And yes, it is the man that makes the difference. A gun is neither offensive or defensive by itself. It is a tool to be used as needed. Much as a sword was 'back in the day'.

Every religious group has limits. In the 2x2 group, the ministry maintains control. so Christ is not involved? Only when it suits!
