Long, Sylvia M. (Deffenderfer) Schupbach 6 Apr 1904 - 1 Mar 1972 OH 9 Mar 1972 p6Sylvia M. Deffenderfer was born April 6, 1904 near Ozark, Mo. She was the daughter of Thomas Spencer and Mary Jane Deffenderfer. She was first married to Franz Schupbach and to this union, two sons were born. She was preceded in death by the sons in infancy and Mr. Schupbach passed away April 13, 1949. She later married B. L. Long May 18, 1961. Mrs. Long was a lifelong resident of the Ozark community and a devoted Christian. She entered into rest March 1, 1972, at her home in Ozark at the age of 67 years, 10 months and 24 days. Surviving her are her husband, B. L. Long of the home; one sister, Mrs. Agnes Melton of Ozark; two brothers, Henry Deffenderfer of Ozark and Glenn Deffenderfer of Thermal, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Vaunda Gardner of Republic; and three step grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 4, in the Harris Chapel in Ozark, with Harley Tallman and Dorman Dixon officiating. She next married Ollie Sipes, and he also preceded her in death. She was a retired owner and operator of Food Handling Care's - etc. in Columbus and was a member of the Hands of Friendship Club in Ocala, Fla. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Irma Hovis Palmer, R. 16, Bedford and Mrs. Marilan Hovis Tabor, Anthony, Fla.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Cully, Columbus, and Mrs. Paul (Wilma) Jackson, R. 16, Bedford. * Mrs. John H. Zahorka died of a stroke at her home in Colby last Thursday at 9:10 P.M. at the age of 74. She had been in ill health the past nine years. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Rembs Funeral Home in Marshfield and burial was made in the Hillside cemetery. James Jardine officiated. The obiturary was read by Albert Gravel and the prayer was offered by Clarence Arquette. The scriptural reading at the cemetery was given by Charles Preston and the closing prayer was offered by Rey Bullick.
Pallbearers were Baesman, Alfred Birkholz, Dwight Below, Richard Kleinstick, Arvid Carlson and William Peckham.
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Dissmore, Eau Claire, accompanied by Mrs. Harold Brockhaus, sang “I Know in Whom I Have Believed,” and “I Know That My Redeemer Lives.” Doris Wilson and Elaine Lyman assisted with the singing at the cemetery.
Helen Hedrich was born on November 6, 1886, in Calumet county and received her education there. In 1901, she moved to Dorchester where she married John H. Zahorka in 1904. They operated a farm in the town of Holton until 1931 when they moved to Horicon. They moved to Colby in 1937 and have lived here since that time.
She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Miss Irene E. Zahorka of Austria and Mrs. Norman Wepfer of Chicago, Ill.; two grand children and five great grand children.

OBIT: Ashland Daily Independent, 21 Oct 1986, pg 13: MRS. VICTORIA MILLER; Mrs. Victoria Green Miller, 93, of 3229 Crest St., Ashland, died at 12:24 p.m. Monday at her home following a short illness. Mrs. Miller was born Dec. 29, 1892 in Elliott County, a daughter of the laate William Martin and Susan White Greene. Her husband, Joe Miller, died in 1936. She was a member of the Christian Undenominational Church. Surviving are two brothers, Hearld S.
