God bless, Mr and Mrs Redback.

My Daddy wanted to leave his frail body and go to Heaven and we were happy he did so last Dec. without pain or difficulties (died in his sleep). If it is for you as it is for me, memories of your Dad will come to your mind frequently/occasionally and they will be sweet and bring a smile to your face.
Daddy was not impulsive. He had a saying he often used, "We'll see how it goes." Now the family often uses his saying and smile as we do it, thinking of Daddy everytime.
May your memories of your father comfort you and be sweet.

Aww Ross. My condolances to you all. Its not an easy time. My pops passed 2yr ago. Its like it was last wk. I miss him terribly at times. The funny thing is I feel him with me. He was a good loving man with a large family. Before the funeral I was comforted just being near him. I live in another country. One night I woke thinking about the eulogy what I wanted to say. I wanted him to be honored for who he was. So I decided to open the funeral myself.(I didnt care if it was unheard of) I didnt want it to be a sad sombre service. My Dad was witty and loved to laugh. Somehow I found the strength. I got my kids, neices and nephews to write eulogys as well. In our inexperience he was honored and spoken about with love and humour. The two workers who spoke didnt know him. My thoughts will be with you all.

Ross ~ My sincere condolences to you and your family at this time. It's really hard to lose a loved one, especially when they are your parents. It takes a long time to adjust to their absence afterwards, too. I lost both my parents in the past, so I can imagine the sorrow of heart you must be feeling about now. I pray that God's peace will stay your heart as you prepare for his funeral and a life without him in it. Take care and may God keep you safe and give you comfort at this time.

Ross I am so sorry to read of your dad's passing. I am sure your family can take great comfort in that your dad could say, '[7] I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. [8] Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.' (2 Timothy 4:7-8 ESV).
Praying that you will know the peace and the comfort that comes from trusting in God at this time of sadness.

Sounds like a great memorial. Was his death unexpected or sudden?
Again, so sorry to hear.

Sounds like a great memorial. Was his death unexpected or sudden? Again, so sorry to hear. Thanks emy. Not unexpected in the sense he was 87 and had started using a walker etc. But unexpected in the sense that we didn't expect him to have a stroke last week. That does come as a shock. Nov. 14 last year my bmom had a stroke and shocked everyone. She was in good health so everyone thought. She passed away 2 months later.

It is a shock when it happens and there is the finality of it and you miss them... Yes we sure do miss them. It still seems unreal in a way. Seems like she should still be there driving her lady friends around. I guess that's what happens when it comes so quick and unexpectedly.
