What "seven churches" is he talking about and what do they have to do with the "Testimony"? What "work" does he mean? What work was there with "seven churches" or the "Testimony" that was 100% Irvine's and his alone? RE 7 churches, see: www.tellingthetruth.info/founder_book/21wmibook.phpCherie - Irvine wrote many things, are we supposed to believe that just because he wrote them they are absolute bedrock truth? Does simply writing what he wrote make what he wrote true? Some of this stuff gets really dumb - you suggest Bert isn't an honest man because he isn't brainswashed by the Irvine quote you posted. Wow. None of that answered my questions.

I didnt suggest that about Bert - I said according to WmI--he was, based on his disbelief.
I dont intend to answer any of your questions.

Paul. We have nothing written by Jesus. Jesus didn't write the gospels but his disciples wrote down what he said and taught. The gospels have recorded many of Jesus teachings, miracles he did, people he helped, etc... The disciples of Jesus obey the teachings of Jesus, we appreciate Paul's understanding. However, we put our faith more in Jesus teachings. No proof of that whatsoever. It's all hearsay. Paul was a Hellenic Jew and knew about the pagan version of Christ consciousness. What he taught resembles it pretty closely. We really have no proof that everything written isn't just made up. I know you don't agree, but that doesn't make the story any more true.

"No honest man who knows the facts can ever doubt that the Testimony was my work. No William, no Testimony, or 7 churches." Bert, according to this statement--you're not an honest man, or you havent looked at the facts very closely. The church you attend today evolved from what Irvine started. Can anyone answer: If Cherie didn't believe the quote was coherent and applied, what was the purpose of posting it?

So, who do YOU think established Christianity in the Roman Empire? What do you mean by "established"? Major players seem to be Paul/Saul of Tarsus and the emperor Constantine and his wife.

Cherie K. and I had discussed about this before... Cherie was trying to show me that William Irvine claimed he started it by himself! No William, No Testimony, or 7 churches... which he started.
So, I pointed out that what William Irvine claimed didn't meant his claim was correct.
There were John Long, Edward Cooney, George Walker, Jack/Bill/Mae Carroll family, and many others who had done more to get the 2x2 group going/growing in 1899 than William Irvine.
William Irvine didn't severe his involment completely with the Faith Mission until 12/1900. Nathan, Then this is your acknowledgement that indeed the 2x2 group begin 1899 & was not a continuation of the church back to the days of the original apostles?

If I remember correctly, there were some people preaching and discussing about a man named Jesus. They were not promoting any church, but just the man and belief in him. Then along came a man with supposedly a superior vision. He and his companions began forming churches and teaching to follow him as he followed Jesus. This all happened in Israel. No, wait....Ireland. Um....

We should all applaud Cherie for the meticulous work she has done in putting TTT together. It is a historical record of the 2x2 Church, it is not her thoughts. It is amazing that Cherie has been able to gather so much information, and file it for future reference. It is just a fantastic reference source, I go to it often, and I am sure many 2x2's do likewise.
It is hard to understand why the 2x2 Church did not keep records, in a central location. Most Churches are proud of their history and record it for all to see. There will always be good and bad in history, that cannot be avoided. It happens in our own family history. It happened in the Bible. It is not wrong that history be kept, even though we would prefer that some parts were not there. There is a precedent for keeping a record i.e. the Bible. Also the life of Christ was much recorded. So I feel the 2x2 Church should do the same, and not criticize anybody who makes a serious attempt to do so, as Cherie has.
So come on articulate 2x2,s on TMB, time to take up the pens and write. Perhaps Nathan, Wally, Bert, Rational, etc, could all do a chapter. Would make it very interesting, include lots of photos. Think of the market, every 2x2 would buy a copy. It is time that a book was written by 2x2,s.

Wally, you cannot sanatize History. It is what it is, you cannot change it. 2x2 like any organisation will have both good and bad in its recorded history.

Wally, you cannot sanatize History. It is what it is, you cannot change it. 2x2 like any organisation will have both good and bad in its recorded history. Exactly, it is, what it is. Cherie has done a pretty decent job making it as historical as possible by preserving a lot of stuff that would have just got chucked. I gave some stuff to quizzer who used to be on here and collected it for the Truth Archives. I have an old study list from my grandmother that was given to her by one of the original workers. His handwriting and a list of bible study topics for a year. Can't remember who it was off hand without looking for it and reading it again. But these things getting saved is important for the history of the group I think.
