I was Evanston IL . And I know his sister's last name well, IF I could just remember it! Any idea where the parents might have been buried, dmmichgood? Not that Jim would necessarily be buried in the same place, but it's a possibility.

Found nothing of either James on findagrave.com.

Supposedly the Niles Center cemetery, according to IL death records, which is now the village of Skokie, IL. The most likely cemetery there would be the Saint Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery -- but no record of James Brown there. There's also a St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery just across the road.

Willie Brown born 12/12/1895; died 1/21/1964 "Final resting place:" Evanston, IL Jan 25, 1964 For dmmich: "Solo by Virginia Micheletti" James Brown born 2/25/1907; died Jan 13, 1995. Interment at Memorial Park Cemetery, Skokie, Cook Co. Illinois I didnt find his name in the cemetery on findagrave--but feel free to add it. I obtained this info from his funeral notes.

Thanks, Cherie! Dmmichgood, do you know this Virginia Micheletti? Any chance anyone you know could go exploring the Skokie IL cemetery and grab a photo of James Brown's grave stone...and any family that may be nearby? I think his parents, at least, are buried there as well.

I think his parents, at least, are buried there as well. I have children that live in Chicago and we often go to cemeteries just for walks, I'll see what I can do!
It is kind of amazing to see how many people go to cemeteries for walks!
It is a quiet place and often has interesting architecture .
I'll see what I can do & let you know.
