I didn't really see another thread where these would fit!
* The Spirit can make up for lack of experience, but experience can never make up for lack of the Spirit.
* Whatever happens to us, there is always a step we can take in the right direction.
* Isaiah 58:8 God is our rereward (rear guard). He stands between us and our past.
* Our actions come from our will, but response comes from the heart.
* Peter knew he would live to be an old man. The devil could have tempted him "Enjoy yourself now ... you can get right again later."
* Found written on a suicide note "If one person speaks a kind word to me today, I will not jump off this bridge" Obviously none did.
* An old sister of 105 was quoted as having said, "We can walk on a sea of trouble if your mind is stayed on God."
* A den of lions couldn't stop Daniel praying, but a mosquito can stop me!
* A thought is a spark. Meditation can make it a flame. If you don't meditate, the spark dies.
* A woman who was lifted from the gutters of sin, every time she prays she thanks God for stooping so low to pick up so little.
* We are the most like Christ, when we are interceding for another.
* We have only one shot at life. Don't shoot from the hip, - take careful aim.
* If we want to do something, we can find a way. If we don't want to do it, we can find an excuse.
* The parable of the sower: The first soil said "I won't!". The second soil said "I will, but I am very sensitive, -- I take offence easily." The third soil said "I can, and I want to, but I am too busy."
* Anyone can advertise, but only those who have the goods can demonstrate.
* I wonder how David started the day when he did so wrong. That day ended with him murdering a man. We need to start right to get direction for the day.
* The days we feel nothing has been accomplished, may be the days when God is doing the most in us.
* Life is like an escalator. In the beginning, there are few behind you and many in front. The more you go, the more are behind you and the less in front.

"the weak can never forgive, forgiveness is an attribute of the strong" - Ghandi
'The beginning of love is to let those we love be perfectly themselves, and not to twist them to fit our own image. Otherwise we love only the reflection of ourselves we find in them.” Thomas Merton (Trappist monk)

You can only see a little of the ocean, A few miles distant from its rocky shore. But oh, out there, beyond the eye's horizon, There's more, there's more.
You can only see a little of God's loving, A few rich treasures from His mighty store. But oh, out there beyond the eye's horizon, There's more, there's more.

*Why Should Not I?*
Some hearts seem hard... Embittered toward Thy precious word, And pain that life has brought. If they resent Thy oversight, Lord, how have I escaped such plight? I, who am nought!
Some hearts have changed... Their whole affection rearranged, Changed by a pow'r divine. If some stern hearts once void of love Now show the spirit of the dove, Why should not mine?
Some hearts rejoice... That God gave them the right of choice, And wisdom from on high. If they can joy in serving Thee, And find life filled with melody, Why should not I?
Some hearts seem brave... In spite of all their flesh would crave, They never Christ deny. If they can face each stormy test, Yet faithfully give Thee their best, Why should not I?
Some hearts seem pure... They keep afar from Satan's lure, And from defilement free If they must face the chast'ning rod In order to be clean, O God, Then what of me?
Some hearts oft bleed... From thoughtless word or cruel deed; As corns of wheat they die. If they can be misunderstood, Yet give again just what is good, Why should not I?
Some hearts seem deep... They profit from what makes them weep; They know their God is nigh. If they can penetrate through fears Beneath the surface cause of tears, Why should not I?
Some hearts seem great... With outstretched arms to throngs who hate, They prove Thy love divine. If burning zeal for souls in need Inspires their hearts to sow the seed, Lord, inflame mine!

A New Year's Plea
Lord, let me stand in the thick of the fight, Let me bear what I must without whining; Grant me the wisdom to do what is right, Though a thousand false beacons are shining.
Let me be true as the steel of a blade, Make me bigger than skillful or clever; Teach me to cling to my best, unafraid, And hearken to false gospels, never.
Let me be brave when the burden is great, Faithful when wounded by sorrow; Teach me, when troubled, with patience to wait The better and brighter to-morrow.
Spare me from hatred and envy and shame, Open my eyes to life's beauty; Let not the glitter of fortune or fame Blind me to what is my duty.
Let me be true to myself to the end, Let me stand to my task without whining; Let me be right as a man, as a friend, Though a thousand false beacons are shining.

When I look at what workers have to say I see that they only are capable of coming up with moral tidbits and with exclusivist "we are the only true way, everyone else is lost" nonsense. The biblical teachings gets very little mention, just a scattering of unconnected bible verses. There is no meat in their preaching. One goes in spiritually hungry and one leaves spiritually hungry, and yet one feels obliged jot down every word utter by the workers.Everyone says they got so much from the meeting but when one actually sits down and reads what the workers had to say, their sermon is full of nothing.Of course, saying so is taboo.
But Peter did not know how long he would live.Nobody does.

Second, Jesus told Peter he would be old: John 21:18 Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.”

I believe Jesus is saying "Peter, when you were younger you made your own decisions but when you are older God will make your decisions for you even when you don't want such decisions". Somehow this is linked with Peter's death (John 21:19).
