Ron, I am disappointed in you. You usually have sound advice. This comment blows my mind:
Other Christian churches have a variety of Biblical teachings that are good, but none closely follow the New Testament practices except for the friends and workers.

This comment blows my mind: Other Christian churches have a variety of Biblical teachings that are good, but none closely follow the New Testament practices except for the friends and workers. Hi rjs, Ron here. Sorry to have disappointed you. Had I preceded the statement with "I believe . . . ." then that would soften the absoluteness of the statement to make it more accurate. Of course I haven't attended services of all Christian churches, but of those I have, have had a nice sermon on some Bible subject that would be helpful in daily Christian living. On the part about following closely New Testament practices, I have never come across any Christian denomination whose ministers, for example, go out to preach in the manner of say, Paul and Barnabas and whose believers meet in small home groups, each sharing a spiritual message enjoyed during the previous week. I would feel uncomfortable taking a more cavalier approach to this manner of living and worship than the friends and workers teach. That is not to say that any other manner is evil or wrong; I haven't the right or responsibility to judge that for another; only for myself. Thank you for the acknowledgment that my advice is usually sound. The fact that we are not in perfect agreement on this, or any other issue should, for both or us to be cause for reflection, not disintegration of our minds. By carefully considering the seriousness of what we are really dealing with, our eternal salvation, each of us can search our motives to better know how to live more pleasing to our God and father. My deepest hope is that we will all, one day, find ourselves approved and enjoying each others company and support forever.

Agreed! Someone explained this fellowship of the friends and workers as 'better'..... It feel it is a progression. We are all on a journey of spiritual growth and understanding and it is leading us closer to God and our spiritual home in heaven. Where some people are is not the same place others are. God knows the hearts of each one. The thief on the cross didn't have the chance to experience the joy and satisfaction found in this fellowship on earth, but he was introduced to Jesus. That's as far as he got on his journey. For myself, I'm glad I've found this way, and know peace and contentment because this is where I feel the closest to Jesus and my heavenly Father. But I'm not about to sit in judgement on anyone anywhere, because I don't know where they are on their journey!

Right! How it opens our minds and softens our hearts when we understand (finally) that God leads people - each at a different pace.
