But if you take off the labels, the name for God and a few customs, hard liners from most religions seem to want the same type of government... they just want their own religious label on it.
Heh!
Yeah, it sounds like an advertising scheme for the various "churches" out there.
I personally don't believe that there is such thing as a "Christian Nation." If so, it is not the United States of America nor any other country I can think of. After all, Jesus said that his kingdom is not of this world even though there may be a few true Christians in it, but they are ambassadors for Christ (II Cor. 5:20). Christians nations do not go around stealing money from the people's paycheck when there is no law and the Supreme Court saying that people don't have to pay such a thing. Christian nations don't run off a two party system faulting one another and then not correcting the other's faults when they are elected, and then the people still choose to support their lies. Look at the way people treat one another. Many people are constantly ripping off and stealing from others. Then many of those go to "church" the next Sunday.
Israel was the perfect example that a nation WILL NOT serve the Lord. A nation is just flat out incapable of doing it. Knowing how many people in the country treat one another and that being said, this isn't a Christian nation. I think we are putting too much emphasis on the our nation. Many people talk too much about serving there country instead of about serving God.
If one reads the 1st epistle of John, then one will reads where he tells us not to Love the world nor the things in it. Why love this nation? You may enjoy the what little freedom is left. We still have the freedom to serve God, but don't love the nation. Do what is needed to agree with the adversary without contradicting God's word and the conscience he gives you.
Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with
God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
-James 4:4-Amen to that!
You are so right, I am sorry I did not have a chance to read this earlier. So what you're saying is that we are trying to protect/defend something that is not there or never was there in the first place?
We were a POOR example of Christianity, but it does say that God will bless a person, nation or whomever confesses Him as their Lord! Jesus did say that if anyone gives even a glass of water in HIS name, that that person shall receive (not loose) a reward.
This country was blessed by God NOT because how good a Christian it was, but because the early Fathers put their trust in the God of the Bible and not Islam or some other faith. Just look at the countries that denied the existence of God, they suffered and still suffer for it dearly.
This is all I meant by a Christian Nation, it was that at least we acknowledged that it was the Lord (who we so poorly served here), who governed or at least influenced our moral decisions in the beginning, and as has been evident; we did not loose our reward. God blessed us above all nations, He protected us from some really cruel enemies without having to drop one bomb on them. (The wars we started was NOT based on these older principles, and we suffered for those also dearly (Vietnam, Iraq and so on)
And now by forsaking even that little faith, we shall reap the hardships like all those other Godless countries
When Obama made that speech saying that this here is NO MORE a Christian Country, he did explain that it never really was one later on, so why did he even mention it at all?
Because Satan knows that even the mention of our Lord, or the prayer of our kids in school to Jesus, or even the 'posting' of the Ten Commandments could 'leaven the whole lump'!
He knows that as long as there is ONE Christian professing, he is in danger of loosing much. Christianity, no matter how weak or how few, must be wiped off the face of the earth. Satan cannot tolerate even a smidgen or even the mention of the name 'Christ'.
Satan also knows that; "a Kingdom divided cannot stand" and "They that are for us cannot be against us", or that; "They that are against us cannot be FOR us" (in his case) this is why it was important to make his speech, to clarify that Christianity, even in its poorest form, will no longer be tolerated.
Yes, Christianity has been beaten and is laying on the side of the road in this country, but remember that Satan knows that there is more power in a wounded, beaten, suppressed Christian, then all the armies, all the physical powers of this world.
2 Cor 12:9
9 And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
NKJV
Heb 11:33-34
33 who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, 34 quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword,
out of weakness were made strong,
NKJVand remember that God kept the world going because of just eight people. The whole universe was spared just because of Noah and his family. So if there is even only a few righteous (because of Christ) left in this country, the whole country will benefit because of them as long as their influence remains acknowledged in the country.
Sodom and Gomorrah and about five adjoining cities would have been spared because of only 10 righteous people. NOT PERFECT, just a few who still seek after righteousness, who still HATE sin, and I truly believe that it is because of those few righteous that God is waiting and delaying the destruction of this country.
But He does show His anger, like when in New Orleans, one year they called the theme for the Mardi Grass;
"The Quest For Immorality" and the revelry, the homosexual acts went on in front of the kids for days, and the Lord visited them the very next year with a storm that wiped them just about off the face of the earth.
This is to remind us all that when the righteous are gone or given up, God will release His anger, for there remains no reason to keep things going.
This is what is bringing on the end, when the one that keeps it from coming is removed; THE END WILL COME.I still see this as a Christian Country, but I guess I'm the last few who still do, who have not yet given up in the hope of still saving some souls.
I know I'm far from being perfect, but even as a poor striving Christian (as this country is) God will not abandon me. It is when we, poor Christians give up and say: well, I guess I never was a Christian is when God sees no use for us anymore, and will let us perish.
Please don't give up, you few who are still striving to keep the Christian Morals influencing the decision making in this country are keeping us alive. Keeping hope for the lost for another day.
But as you can see here too on TMB, Christians turn to atheists for counsel and show contempt to those Christians that express their hatred of SIN.
How sad when we hear quotes like: "Sin, in its deepest sence, is true Wisdom" (referring to Adam and Eves fall) and no Christian speaks out against such dark logic.
I wonder why the Lord is waiting? I sure would like to find those 'few righteous' that keep the END from coming. Maybe there are a few more that are to get their name written in the Book of Life, and then the END shall come.
Oh Lord, please let me find those few, so I too could learn from them, and see exactly where I stand with YOU!?!
I pray for this Country Lord, that those many who call themselves Christian but are blinded by Satans lies would see. But as you said: "They love the darkness, and if the light (Christian) in them is darkness, just how dark is the darkness?"
In Jesus name, one poor Christian who has not yet given up hoping to find others like him, especialy those who are righteous, those who keep the end from coming upon us, closing the door to salvation forever.
