Some time back, a group of professing folks got together and discussed the need to have guidelines for workers to follow in regard to how they deal with issues concerning Child Sexual Abuse (CSA)
These folks put together a set of guidelines, and are hoping that they are something that will be used by the overseers and workers.
The involvement of people outside the truth fellowship was minimal, and mainly consisted of comments concerning how the guidelines were written, and not about the content.
In fact, as the Administrator of WINGS, I made it a point to not try to influence how these guidelines came about as any such ideas or suggestions should come from within the church rather than from without.
At this time, it is my understanding that these guidelines are not going to be made 'public', although that might take place at a later time.
While it would be great to have these guidelines 'officially implemented', the whole point of them is to protect not only the children, but also the workers. These guidelines have been shared with some workers, and these people would like to make them available to all workers everywhere.
If any worker reading here would like to access these guidelines, I will provide them to any workers that ask for them. As one of those involved in this project put it:
If all workers follow the Guidelines, not one of them will ever be charged with the same crime an overseer has recently been charged with.
What we really care about is reducing child abuse
I am very impressed with the guidelines, and highly recommend them.
Feel free to contact me either by PM (for workers registered on the board) or by email which is listed at the bottom of all my posts.
This post will be locked and 'pinned'. If anyone wishes to comment on this, feel free to start a thread, and I will participate there as appropriate.
