I have frequented these boards for a number of years. When first I came, Ilylo and Nathan were at war and they said some unkind remarks about one another.
Today we seem to have a board that is dominated by ex workers who, in the main, have an axe to grind against the way they once dedicated there existence to.
Quite frankly I believe that they are boring in the content of their posts and they, as well as professing folks, should be well rid of one another.
It would be good if more time and content was spent in engaging mere mortals in the pursuit of knowledge in matters relating to God.
it is not good when people who state that they are blessed with faith and Christian living, engage in ridicule and scorn of another Christian belief.

I must disagree that the ex-workers who post here DOMINATE the board with axes to grind. I can think of 2 who fit that description (sometimes), but there are several more who offer good participation. Maybe you are not aware they are ex-workers?

There is at least one ex worker that tries to dominate the board. I am tired of how he is always talking as if he is an authority on everything. Almost every topic that is posted about ends up being about him one way or another. I think he is what is referred to as a professional victim. Everything wrong with his life is because of someone elses decisions it seems like.

Here are 7 ex workers.
#1 2822 posts #2 1892 posts in 2 years #3 1318 posts #4 13159 posts #5 12499 posts #6 6805 posts #7 601 posts in 18 months
Those 7 have hat 39096 posts.
if all those 39096 posts took 4 minutes to post, that equates to 156,384 minutes, 2606.4 hours, 108.6 days.
One wonders if those 108.6 days have been well spent!
One of these ex workers has spend at least 36.49722222 days telling all in sundry about their woes.

CLOU.
My point is that we shouldn't just come here to vent our spleen, it could and should be to join together in Christian harmony not to relive unpleasant moments of when they were professing.
HOLDMYHAND.
It is very easy to find out how many posts a person has made. Took me less than 3 minutes to get the info and post that one.
I am not, have not been and have no desire to be a worker.

For one thing, the poster with 12499 posts (not sure who it is) is not an ex worker. There is only one exworker over 7000 posts, Nathan9. For another perspective, look at it this way. In the top 15 posters, two are ex workers. In the top 30 posters, 4 are ex workers, and so on. That doesn't seem dominant to me, but that's just my opinion.

The following were the guys and girls I understood were ex workers.
Apologies if I am mistaken.
LB TS (now there is a swg) Nate Greg Sharon W ( you got me thinking now) A V
and of course the poor Mr. M from Sweden who probably has posted more than anyone through the ages if he hadn't cancelled his subscription in the past and the number of posts started again.

CLOU. My point is that we shouldn't just come here to vent our spleen, it could and should be to join together in Christian harmony not to relive unpleasant moments of when they were professing. Scared wierd guy - love the handle by the way
You make a good point and I agree with you except for the Christian harmony thing (which is my issue not yours). I think that you're right that there is a lot of unhealthiness here. Here's something to consider though and I think that you sort of unintentionally address it in the way that you identify yourself - leaving or trying to question a closed somewhat isolated environment such as the Twos is scary. We've been taught to fear the outside world and yet when we can't fit into the constraints or expectations of the group anymore we have nowhere else to turn to.
Living and suffering in silence with our shame and guilt and threats of going to hell ringing in our ears becomes an existence that is perhaps unhealthier than what we left. Sometimes in order to heal we have to identify the source of pain and the actual pain itself. Believing that we are not responsible for what others have done to us can be difficult to believe because we've been taught that we are. Sometimes the only way to be able to heal is to find out that you're not alone and that others have had a similar experience. How do you that? I was not the most popular person in the Twos in fact I doubt anyone from those days even remembers me - I was a ghost. Trying to adapt to life outside was even scarier because I felt like a freak who had lived through an experience that nobody else would even believe.
Finding these sites on the net helped me to understand that other people had gone through a similar experience and that spiritual abuse does happen because it happens to others.
Of course nobody on these boards knows who I am or gives a crap about me - this not any different than when I was waiting or preparing for the work inside the Twos. This is good because I get a chance to see that others have survived without any external pressure and I can heal.
Will there come a time when I do not frequent these boards you bet - for right now maybe its just the wierd tabloid qualities that keep me coming back I don't know
The thing is look at the conversations here - do you really think that folks here could be capable of getting together in a support group? There might be a few - but how is getting together in person and talking out our hurts any better? Support groups aren't always all their cracked up to be.
Healing is a messy business - sometimes venting with strangers is healthier than dealing with actual people who have actual faces and names and expect you to remember them. My ghost like abilities made it easier for me to move on without having to actually leave the community I had been living in while inside the group.
Being a ghost online is easier to take than being a ghost in a room of people.
Please don't mistake these for bitter musings - they're not intended to be. I have often wondered why I bother coming here and chastised myself for being co-dependant and unhealthy for doing so.
Maybe we come here to share our pain and to find a witness (even just for a second) to the injustices that we have experienced.
When I first left I avoided both groups 'the innies' and 'the outies' of course that wasn't hard. I tried going to other churches and different counsellors - the thing was I had to recognize that while nobody else knew that I existed in either group - I knew and in order to deal with this and move on I needed to find the people that for better or worse are my people and well here I am on this board chatting with you...
It is what it is - I guess our coming here maybe falls into the category of 'wierd junk that just happens'.
You asked the question - this the only answer I've got - might be right / it might be wrong - its the only one that works for this ghost.Great post clou. I think you have a pretty good handle on why this place exists. A lot of people have cycled through these forums and hopefully, better able to move on as you suggest, no matter how raucous it gets in these places. You make a very astute point: Exactly true. Most people here ( and who have been affected the most deeply by their 2x2 experience) are those who were B&R. It's effectively a tribal thing. It's probably like someone born and raised in Norway and emigrates to the US...."their people" will always be the Norwegians. We've all been culturally "stamped" and there is no sense ignoring the lifelong effects....it's better to face it head on if there is to be any hope of getting on top of it.

I spent 12 years, 24 hours a day being a worker with a zeal so strong that if my whole life were spent for the sake of ONE soul coming to meeting and professing, I would have considered my life worthwhile. What you are describing above is zeal. I spend a lot of time giving MY testimony because I know there are a lot of individuals all over the professing world who share my experience and are looking for truth. Some workers have sown confusion and lies. I have experienced that first hand. I know how it feels. I know how it feels also when I can get validation. So, I know that I can validate what people are experiencing when they are faced with emotional and spiritual abuse in meeting. By the way, validating people's experience IS preaching the gospel. Truth brings healing. It is the opposite of hiding truth but putting a good face on it in gospel meeting.

I think many of the friends have a view of the work something like this:
"There is The Work, and then there is Real Life."
Having workers around is just part of the 2x2 culture. It is familiar but it is not a "real" job. Not a real way of occupying a lifetime. The Work only works within their culture.
I am just thinking about how the friends would really like the workers, when they "leave the Work", to simply "move on" to something "real".

Were you a worker at one time sharon?
According to post 9 swg thinks you are.
Me thinks he is just jealous and needs to take the mote out of his own eye before he starts criticizing others.
Looking for something positive and up lifting from this judgmental character. There's more to life than just work, and prayer, and singing and this board is one of those things in life where people like to congregate.

Awesome post Clou.
I come here to read posts such as this. I come here for intellectual stimulation, out of boredom, to catch some gossip. None of which are admirable. I also come here to find our how much I have grown since last I visited forums that focus on the F&W group. Scared wierd Guy, not all ex members are Christian. I, for one, are glad of a place that does not try to censor that. For a moment consider the perception 2by 2ism is a disease: is it not wonderful for all of us to have a place to find support and everything else that might be part of dealing with a disease.

Clou- I think you hit the nail on the head there! When I first came to these boards I had a lot of questions that the f&w would not clearly answer. I was skeptical about coming here because I knew that there were indeed some bitter folks who seemed to enjoy ripping people apart, and yes- I did find that to be true. BUT, there were also some (both innies and outies) who welcomed my questions and answered them honestly. I was a young innie at the time, and there were ex's who protected me and tried to shelter me from certain people (both ins and exes) on the board. I was really grateful to them!
Years later, I left the f&w and remembered this board. I returned because I had some issues I needed to talk about and did not have anyone to talk them out with except for my husband. I wasn't sure if we were just crazy or if other people felt the same way and saw the same things we did.
In time, I felt like I could finally move on, and I have, but I do stop in and visit now and then. I'm not bitter, and I still very much love my friends and family who are in the 2x2, but I disagree with some major points. However, I feel that way about many different Christian "religions", and my focus is not on doctrine, but on a relationship with God. I am praying that all are freed from a life of works and religion and are blessed to enter in to a real relationship with Christ.
I see the need for a place like this for people to share the pains of their hearts, ask questions, answer questions, etc- but I do hope that eventually there is an overcoming and a moving on... that no one remains in bitterness toward the f&w, and that the Lord shows them that He was there in those hurts and pains and was ultimately bringing them to Himself.
